Such mirrors were often supplied in pairs - concave and convex - by scientific instrument makers in the 19th century. Interestingly, at Sir John Soane's house at 13 Lincoln's Inn Fields, he incorporated convex mirrors into the recesses above the staircase, one of which was originally ebonised.
