A Pair of Weighted Benches

English, late 19th / early 20th century Each with a long stained pine top, tenon jointed to the shaped legs with a pair of curved brackets. The legs having bolted cast-iron feet with a central joining metal stretcher.

Sadly, there is no provenance with these benches, but they are almost certainly from either a school or factory. Far from rudimentary in their design; the cast iron feet serve the double purpose of avoiding the benches tipping whilst also avoiding the legs of the benches rotting through constant use and floors being mopped.
