A Ceylonese Ebonised and Caned Sofa

Galle District, Sri Lanka. Mid-20th century

Dimensions – 226 cm wide, 67 cm deep, 96 cm high, seat height 40 cm

The shaped back centred by a carved shell crest, the caned back, sides and seat framed within an ebonised hardwood structure, with scrolling arms and reeded supports raised on turned and lobed legs.
